Camping Hofer is a very welcoming and family orientated site offering 100 pitches for Caravans and Motorhomes. It also has 4 self contained bungalows, 7 Apartments and several double rooms (for B&B), ideal if you want accommodation for visitors who don’t camp. It is ideal for a first caravan or motorhome trip into Austria due to its low altitude position, ease of access from the A12 autobahn, and proximity to several ski areas. It is also a great spot for a long stay or full season. Owners Silvia and Guntram Hofer are excellent hosts and take care to ensure you have a stress free stay. The site has a traditional Austria restaurant and bar that serves excellent food, a modern facilities block with toilets, showers, washing machines and dryers, a dish washing room and a ski room. The facilities block was totally refurbished in 2018 to a very high standard.
The free ski bus picks you up outside the gate and from there you have a choice of skiing the whole of the Zillertal valley. The Zillertaler Superskipass gives you access to 7 separate ski resorts all accessible via the bus or train included in the pass. Each ski area offers you a different challenge, from the easy blues of Kaltenbach, the wide open space of the Hintertux Glacier to the more challenging of Zillertal Arena and beyond.
Campingdorf Hofer is just a few minutes walk away from the town of Zell, with shops, restaurants, bars and a supermarket close by.
How to get to Campingdorf Hofer
There are two options for your journey to Campingdorf Hofer. The most direct from Calais at 680 miles is via Luxembourg on the E25, the A13 & A8 in Germany to Munich and onto the A93 to the border at Kufstein. From there follow the E45/A12 to Worgl (toll free sections again in 2021/22), and then from Junction 39 at Weising take the the 181 & 169 to Zell am Ziller. Leave the 169 at the OMV filling station and take the 165 into Gerlosstrasse. The campsite is on your right and is well sign-posted. There is a good level entrance which enables you to park outside reception whilst you book in.
For caravans: The better route will be to miss out Luxembourg and head for Koln, Wurzburg, and the A3 then A9 past Nuremberg to Munich, which misses out some long tortuous hills. From Munich follow A99/A8 to Kufstein and then as above. Mileage on this route is around 700 miles.

Zillertal Arena – What is the skiing like in Zell am Ziller?
The Zillertal arena covers almost 150kms of piste with predominately red and blue runs available, but when nearby ski areas of Kaltenbach, Mayrhofen, Hintertux, Fugen and Gerlos are added, an amazing 540 kms are available with sufficient variety to keep any level of skier busy. The Zillertal Superski Pass covers it all, but individual areas have their own tickets with competitive pricing for families, children and seniors. There are also excellent facilities in the region for winter walking and snowshoeing, langlauf, and tobogganing.
For caravanners and those with access to a car, the wider valley maximises the potential of the area when using Campingdorf Hofer as a base. For those committed to ski buses, the network is to a good standard and frequent at peak times.
